On Saturday, 24 October, in the Orbita Hall in Wrocław, the first, historic confrontation in the national sport of the Kingdom of Siam, i.e. Muay Thai, will be held between Poland and Thailand. Muay Thai is now one of the most popular disciplines of martial arts in the world and has a very good chance to be included in the Olympic sports at the Games in Tokyo in 2020.

PLAKAT MAC DRUK WMCThe Martial Arts Contest Gala is the most anticipated, this year’s event in Poland and the host city – Wrocław – has not been chosen at random. In less than two years, the capital of the Lower Silesia will hold the The World Games 2017, where Muay Thai will be one of the most exciting disciplines.

The Martial Arts Contest is not just another test for the organizers of The World Games 2017, it also is a form of promotion of the city itself, and the important event for the increasing Polish Muay Thai and development of the discipline in Poland. Joanna Jędrzejczyk will be one of the representatives and the honour guest at the gala, the best Polish player of Muay Thai and MMA in the history of the Polish martial arts, who has won the world championships IFMA, the WMC European Championships and has defended the title of champion of the UFC.

– We have been waiting long for such an event and we believe that it will prove to be the breakthrough in promotion of Muay Thai fights in our country and in Europe. In addition, it will be culmination of the activities of the Polish Association of Muaythai and the show of its strength. We know that a number of fans from Poland, as well as from Germany and the Czech Republic are going to Wrocław. The Poles have caught up with the world’s best and we want to confirm it in the Orbita Hall. We cannot do it without support of the fans, so you are welcomed, and I think we will watch the best spectacle in the field of the Martial Arts – says Rafał Szlachta, the originator of the gala, and the current president of the Polish Association of Muaythai.

During the gala, the intercontinental masters belts will be the award. The favourites will be extremely strong players from Thailand: Thanelek Chompon, Seksurin, Robert Kit Kor Wit and Lek Light, who won a few hundred professional fights in the past. The fans from Wrocław count on the show of Paweł Jędrzejczyk, who is the multiple world champion in kickboxing. He is also the first Pole, who fought and won in Muay Thai fights in the famous stadiums in Thailand – Rajadamnern and Lumpini. Jędrzejczyk trains in the Puncher Wrocław Club, under the supervision of Janusz Janowski.

The honorary patrons of the event are: the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Polish Association of Muaythai, the City of Wrocław and the Organizing Committee of The World Games 2017, which is also the co-organizer of this event.
