Amedeo Tonelli and Larisa Soloviova named Athletes of the Day
Gold medallists in archery and powerlifting have named The World Games Athletes of the Day.
Italy’s Tonelli claimed top honours in the classical archery competition. In the final, Tonelli took down one of archery’s biggest stars, Brady Elissona. The American is a four-time world cup winner, won three Olympic medals and twice was crowned world champion in field archery, but came up short yet again in his quest for The World Games gold.
Larisa Soloviova of Ukraine triumphed in the middleweight powerlifting category. The defending champion from Cali managed a weight of 605 kg, a whole 50 kg more than second-place Anna Ryshkowa of Russia and Wu Chui-Chun of Taipei.
As a reminder, the Athletes of the Day awards (for one male and one female athlete) are presented each evening at 19:45 in the fan zone of The World Games Plaza. The winners are rewarded for their excellence with a watch from Tissot, one of the sponsors of the 10th World Games.
