A new Ambassador of The World Games 2017!

The ceremony was held just before the meeting between Betard Sparta Wroclaw and KS Torun. During this event a captain of the Polish national speedway team – Maciej Janowski received from Piotr Przygoński, President of the Organizing Committee of Wroclaw, occasional diploma, confirming choice of athlete for being an ambassador of The World Games 2017.

Thank you very much for this award. I am glad that speedway is in the program of The World Games. This would not be possible, without the commitment of Wroclaw fans. Being an ambassador of the Games is an extra motivation to fight for a medal for the Polish national team. I am asking fans for specific support for The World Games. It will be a great promotion of our beloved sport, of our city and the whole country – said Maciej Janowski.

Piotr Przygoński emphasized, that the speedway went to the World Games sports program thanks to the inhabitants’ of the city votes:

We had the right to indicate which disciplines we want to join to the program. Speedway from the beginning was among the favorites. This is very popular sport in Wrocław and that’s why I am very glad that the ambassador of The World Games is player of our team. I believe that with Maciej Janowski in the team , Polish national team will fight for the top step of the podium.

In July 2017 almost 3.5 thousand athletes from 100 countries around the world will come to Wroclaw. They’ll compete in 31 disciplines at more than 20 venues in the capital of Lower Silesia and several other villages in the region. In addition to the speedway, in the program of TWG, among others is football, squash, sport climbing, aerobics, orienteering, karate, kick boxing, bowling, billiard sports, aviation or a beach handball.

So far, the ambassadors of The World Games have been speed skater Zbigniew Bródka, kick boxer Przemyslaw Saleta or World Champion in traditional karate- Anna Lewandowska.
